The brows are often the first area of the face to show aging. As the forehead and brows sag, the eyelids look heavier and may obscure the vision. The eyes also look smaller. There may be some hollowness on the forehead.

This can be easily treated with Botox and Fillers. They improve the hollowness on the forehead and hence supports and also plumps the skin. Hence, Botox and dermal filler injections will lift the eyebrows, resulting in a more open and rejuvenated looking appearance.

This procedure is an excellent alternative to a surgical brow lift.

  • WHAT TYPE OF FILLERS ARE USED?

We use Botox /Juvederm (hyaluronic acid fillers).

  • HOW LONG IS THE TREATMENT?

Treatment does not take very long – usually about twenty minutes. The first effects will start to appear around three days later, with optimum results achieved after two weeks.

  • WHAT DOES THIS PROCEDURE INVOLE?

Topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to the area 15 minutes before the treatment to make the area numb.

The filler Is then injected in precise locations in the forehead. After the treatment the area is massaged. You will be able to see the results of the treatment straight away.

After treatment, you should avoid touching the area and applying any makeup to the treatment due to the risk of infection. You will be given specific post-treatment instructions.

  • ARE THERE SIDE EFFECTS?

After treatment there may be common injection related side-effects such as swelling, redness, itching, pain, tenderness or mild bruising. This will settle down within 2-14 days.

  • CAN I AVOID BRUISING?

To avoid swelling and bruising –

  • Avoid aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication from one week before and up to 3 days after treatment.

  • Avoid Vitamin E from 3 days before treatment.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise up to 3 days after the treatment.

  • Take arnica tablets from one week before and 3 days after treatment

  • HOW LONG DOES IT LAST ?

The results are immediate and last 9 to 12 months.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH FILLERS?

Many patients do not require surgical brow lift and can benefit from injectable, non-surgical brow lift.  This technique  can be performed with neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport and Xeomin) and injectable fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm. The Botox allows the depressor muscles ( the muscles that pull the brow down) to relax and the elevator muscles  ( the muscles that lift the brow to remain selectively active. This combination can  produce a mild  brow elevation when the patient moves their brow.  This is generally a subtle lift and is not  reproducible  in all patients.   Injecting filler under the eyebrow serves to fill out the hollow in that area and can actually inflate and lift a mild to moderate drooping brow.  Injecting filler in the brow is more effective than Botox and is an immediate result.  I prefer to combine the Botox and filler for the optimum result as one treats the muscles and the other volumizes and lifts the brow.
